Spain's all-time leading goalscorer has been the
subject of speculation linking him with a move away from the club, but
the Camp Nou chief has dismissed those rumours.
David Villa will remain a Barcelona player "until
someone says the opposite", according to president Sandro Rosell.Spain's all-time leading goalscorer has found first-team opportunities at Camp Nou increasingly difficult to come by in recent seasons after breaking his leg in December 2011.
Villa is thought to be keen for a fresh start but Rosell does not expect the player to depart.
"Until somebody says the opposite, David Villa will remain a Barcelona player," Rosell told reporters.
Villa refused to comment on the rumours linking him with a move away from Camp Nou, adding: "I have a contract and I have always said that I'm very happy in Barcelona.
"Throughout my career I have always been respectful of my current club. Right now I'm just thinking about doing a good job in Brazil [at the Confederations Cup] and then we will see.
"We will have to analyse many things during the summer, but as of right now I'm not thinking of anything else other than playing football for Spain."
