Cristiano Ronaldo took the top gong at the LFP awards as La Liga's standout performers from the 2013-14 campaign were revealed on Monday night.<br />
<br />
The Real Madrid star was named the best player from last season in Spain's top flight after scoring 31 goals in just 30 league games for the European champions.<br />
<br />
"I have to thank my team-mates, Real Madrid, my family... it is a very good moment in my career," Ronaldo said at the awards ceremony.<br />
<br />
"For me, the important thing is to win collective prizes, but I like the individual ones, too. I work every day, in training, to continue adding more to this."<br />
<br />
Diego Simeone was honoured as best coach after guiding Atletico Madrid to the title in a remarkable season which also saw them reach the Champions League final.<br />
<br />
"I want to share this with my players, without whom none of this would be possible," said the Argentine. "Thanks to Koke, Gabi, Miranda, Courtois... and everyone who made it possible to win the title."<br />
<br />
Sergio Ramos scooped the best defender award, while Carlos Bacca (best South American) and Yacine Brahimi (best African) were also recognised. Rafinha Alcantara was named the revelation of the campaign.<br />

Speaking at an audience with the Foreign Ministers of Germany and France, who called on him at the Presidential Villa, President Jonathan restated the Federal Government’s displeasure over the stigmatization of Nigerians by some countries after the Ebola virus entered Nigeria in July through a Liberian diplomat.<br />
<br />
The President maintained that there was never any justifiable basis for the stigmatization of Nigerians since Ebola was rapidly contained in the country and never attained epidemic levels.<br />
<br />
He told the French Foreign Minister, Mr. Laurent Fabius and the German Foreign Minister, Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier that Nigeria will remain fully vigilant to prevent the re-entry of the virus because the Federal Government recognizes that the country will remain at risk as long as Ebola is active in other West African countries or any other part of the world.<br />
<br />
Jonathan assured that Nigeria will cooperate fully with other concerned nations to stop the current outbreak of Ebola in West Africa as quickly as possible.<br />
<br />
The Ministers told the President that they were in Nigeria to seek further cooperation with the Federal Government in the growing global effort to contain the current outbreak and continuing spread of the Ebola Virus Disease.<br />
<br />
They praised Nigeria’s successful containment of the virus and expressed the desire of France, Germany and the European Union to collaborate more with Nigeria in helping other West African countries where the virus still remains active.<br />

Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria has dismissed suggestions that his move to Old Trafford was motivated by money.</div>

Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti slammed the Argentina international after he made his British record €75 million move to United, claiming that he "demanded a lot of money and preferred to leave in order to earn more elsewhere".<br />
<br />
But Di Maria, who has made a breathtaking start to life in the Premier League with three goals in six games under manager Louis van Gaal, insists he "truly wanted to move to United" due to his love of the club's iconic number seven shirt.<br />

"I have these amazing feelings about having moved to Man United," Di Maria told The Mirror.<br />

"I'm so proud of myself, you know. It's hard to explain it and put it in words. I wanted to wear this shirt.<br />

A 45-year-old pastor, Bienose Chukwuka, was yesterday arraigned before a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja on a 33-count charge of stealing and obtaining money by false pretence.<br />
<br />
The defendant was accused by Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, of stealing and obtaining N5.3 million by false pretence from 15 persons, including Pastor John Ezeugo and Rev. Peter Emeka.<br />
<br />
EFCC counsel, Mr. Ben Ubi, informed the court that the offence was contrary to Section 1 (3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act of 2006.<br />
<br />
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty.<br />
<br />
Justice Justice Lawal Akapo adjourned the matter till December 1, 2 and 3 for commencement of trial and held that the defendant should continue on the bail granted him by Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo.<br />

<br />Police say a man shot and killed a woman after she rejected his advances at an event in Detroit over the weekend. Five people were also injured during the incident. <br /><br />Mary Spears, 27, was at the American Legion Joe Louis Post No. 375 on the east side of Detroit when the 38-year-old suspect allegedly approached her and began talking to her, according to WDIV. <br /><br />When the suspect asked for her number, Spears, whose fiancé was also at the event, told him she was already involved with someone, WJBK reports. The suspect, however, continued harassing her, family members told the station. <br /><br />Police said security took the man out of the club through the back door and escorted him to the front. After a fight broke out, the suspect allegedly took out a handgun and began shooting, killing Spears around 2 a.m. Sunday. <br /><br />Some on social media were horrified by the news. <br /><br />Two men, ages 28 and 30, and three women, ages 23, 32 and 41, were also struck and wounded. All are expected to recover, but two victims remained hospitalized Monday, reports note. <br /><br />After the shooting, the suspect attempted to flee on foot, according to the Detroit Free Press. Artist popularly know for his “Bumper to Bumper” song.<br />

He started
 singing in the teenage choir at his church. He got his break in the 
Nigerian entertainment industry as a dancer. He continued improving on 
his vocals skills and got signed to Don Jazzy’s Mo’hits records in 2006.
 He featured on D’banj’s Rundown/Funk you up album on singles such as 
“Loke”, “tonosibe” and “why me”. Being signed to Mo’ Hits records he is 
also a member of the Mo’ Hits all stars and played a major role in the 
released CV (Curriculum Vitae) album. His first single of the CV album, 
“Ololufe”, has been described as one of the greatest love songs ever 
written by a Nigerian. Wande Coal later released his debut album ‘Mushin
 to Mo’Hits which was widely received across Nigeria, UK and the USA.<br />
Wande
 Coal has also recorded tracks with other Nigerian artists including 
ikechukwu, Naeto C, Dr SID, D’Prince, Wizkid and many more. In 2012 
following a fallout between record label Executives Don Jazzy and 
D’banj, Wande Coal, Dr SID and D’Prince signed on to Don Jazzy’s new 
Record Label Mavin Records with the addition of Tiwa Savage from 323 
entertainment acting as the first lady of mavin records. Wande Coal left
 Mavin Records in 2013. In October 2013, he released a single called 
“Baby Face”.<br />

<br />The US reported on Tuesday that it has discovered a case of EVD in Dallas, Texas, but its health officials said “the crisis is under control and the public has nothing to fear.”<br />A statement released by US CDC Director Tom Frieden said “it’s clear the nation needs a quick and thorough response to its first Ebola patient”</div>

<br />He said although Nigeria was not completely out of the woods, “their extensive response to a single case of Ebola shows that control is possible with rapid, focused interventions.” Apart from Nigeria, the US will also visit Senegal to study its model.</div>

<br />Frieden said “the best practices in Nigeria and Senegal suggest the U.S. should monitor all individuals who may have been exposed to Ebola and establish a dedicated management and response system.”</div>

<br />Senegal has had no new reported cases of Ebola since Sept. 18 while Nigeria has not reported new ones since August 31,<br />US health officials are expected in Nigeria which it claimed had the best practices in combating Ebola Virus disease which entered into Nigeria through Liberian born American citizen Mr. Patrick Sawyer whose index case was reported on July 20, 2014. Nigeria is expected to officially announce today that the remaining two potential Ebola patients will exit the 21-day observation period.<br />How Nigeria stopped the spread of Ebola.</div>

<br />The deadly virus has killed more than 3,000 people in Sierra Leone, Guinea and Liberia in the largest outbreak ever recorded.<br />How Senegal contained Ebola<br />Senegal confirmed its first Ebola case Aug. 29 after a man, travelling from Guinea on Aug. 14, took ill and showed symptoms of the disease. This prompted a quick response, including an experienced and trained staff that was prepared to contain the Ebola outbreak. The procedure led to the identification of 67 contacts who were placed under quarantine, monitored for 21 days and showed no symptoms of Ebola. Panic in America</div>

<br />The man who imported Ebola into US was found to have travelled to Liberia without informing the authorities and did not disclose the nature of his ailment to the nurse that attended to him. Reports from Texas yesterday said that the Nurse who attended to the man has also taken ill for Ebola in Texas.</div>

<br />A spokesman for Texas Health Presbyterian said the patient had walked into a Dallas emergency room on September 26, without knowing that he contacted the deadly virus and left after he was treated. He then returned to the facility on September 28 where it was determined he likely had Ebola and was isolated. He tested positive Tuesday, health officials said.</div>
